LADC Supervisor & CPRS Supervisor

I am a compassionate and dedicated professional with over 30 years of experience in the field of addiction recovery. My approach is rooted in strong communication skills and a calming presence, both of which are fueled by my focused spirituality and commitment to sobriety. I am currently seeking a position as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor within a patient-centered organization.

My extensive experience includes conducting group therapy for individuals dealing with co-occurring disorders, HIV/AIDS, and substance abuse, specifically with IV heroin and alcohol. As a certified Peer Recovery Specialist and a Rule 25 Assessor for Hennepin and Ramsey Counties, I am skilled in interviewing and assessing clients to identify the appropriate level of care needed.

I empower individuals to understand how drugs and alcohol impact their lives on both personal and physical levels, as well as their relationships with society. I work collaboratively with clients to coordinate their recovery efforts with other agencies and counselors, ensuring they receive the comprehensive support necessary to overcome their addictions.

In my practice, I foster a strong client-counselor relationship, utilizing intervention methods, coping strategies, and therapeutic interventions that promote positive change. I also educate clients on how addiction affects brain function, emphasizing the changes that occur in brain circuits responsible for pleasure, stress, decision-making, impulse control, learning, and memory. My goal is to guide individuals toward lasting recovery and a healthier, fulfilling life.
