Our Approach

Our overall approach to treatment uses a “Harm Reduction Model” to help the individual reduce dependence on harmful substances, and to begin to build their life in a more positive way in sustainable steps that they can successfully manage.  Our goal is to help clients take sustainable steps toward being free of substance abuse/dependence.  For some clients those steps will be small, for other clients those steps will be larger.  For almost every client the progress will be variable. Each individual coming through our door potentially faces myriad issues. Our goal is to help them identify those issues, and begin to look at how those challenges may have contributed to substance abuse. We have skilled and experienced team members who understand people experiencing substance abuse and the challenges they face. Client progress will be reviewed as a progression, helping an individual climb a mountain or ladder to take themselves to a higher level of functioning within the world. A few will make significant steps in 30 days, others will take 60, 90, 120, 150, or 180 days to begin to make progress toward next steps.

Assessing mental and physical health are an important part of our program. We assess mental health issues and will complete a diagnostic assessment (presence of anxiety, depression, insomnia, posttraumatic stress, and other mental health concerns which may be concurrent with individuals who have substance abuse diagnosis) as well as memory, learning issues, comprehension and decision-making skills.

We also gather information about medical issues such as diabetes, sleep issues, hypertension, fibromyalgia, Lupus, and other medical conditions that may lead individuals to seek seek substances to help symptom management and will help participants to access medical services if needed.
